Customs clearance in Casablanca
Casablanca, Agadir, Laayoune and Tanger Med: your goods cleared and delivered
Is your shipment arriving at the port or airport of Casablanca? LY2N organises its customs clearance from start to finish: document checks before departure, customs declaration, follow-up of inspections, payment of duties and taxes, then delivery to your premises. We also operate in Agadir, Laayoune and Tanger Med. A single point of contact, based in Casablanca, so that your goods leave the port without unnecessary delays.
What we handle for you
LY2N and its licensed customs broker come from the same company, which became two companies so that each could focus fully on its own business: international transport for LY2N, customs declarations for our sister company. You keep a single point of contact, and a team of declarants who know your files.
- Document checks before shipment : invoice, packing list, bill of lading or air waybill, proof of origin. We spot inconsistencies (weights, values, origin) before they hold up your goods on arrival.
- The import commitment : we help you register it through PortNet with your bank.
- Tariff classification of your products and an estimate of duties and taxes.
- The customs declaration (DUM), prepared and filed by our licensed customs broker, and followed up until release.
- Inspections : customs examination, scanner, technical controls (ONSSA, industrial standards); we attend and handle all exchanges with the authorities.
- Port exit and delivery to your warehouse, factory or site, anywhere in Morocco.

Customs clearance steps in Casablanca
- Before departure : we check your supplier's documents and tell you which authorisations or controls your product requires.
- Import commitment : it is registered on PortNet and domiciled with your bank, preferably before the goods arrive.
- Declaration : our licensed customs broker prepares the single goods declaration (DUM) with the correct tariff classification, value and origin, fully consistent with the commercial documents.
- Inspections : depending on the assigned channel, the declaration is cleared on documents or the goods are physically examined. Products concerned also go through technical controls (ONSSA, industrial conformity).
- Payment of duties and taxes : we send you the duty assessment; once payment is made, the goods are released.
- Collection and delivery : collection of the goods at the terminal, return of the empty container on time, delivery to your address.
Required documents
- Commercial invoice (in French or with a translation)
- Packing list, with net and gross weights identical to those on the invoice
- Bill of lading (B/L), air waybill (AWB) or CMR consignment note
- Domiciled import commitment (via PortNet)
- Proof of origin (EUR.1, origin declaration…) to benefit from preferential tariffs
- Depending on the product: certificates of conformity, health or phytosanitary certificates, specific authorisations
Import duties and taxes
The amount payable depends on the tariff classification of the goods, their customs value (value of the goods plus transport and insurance to Morocco) and their origin. It generally includes import duty, import VAT (at the standard rate of 20% for most products) and, for some products, specific taxes.
Morocco has signed several free trade agreements, notably with the European Union, Turkey, the United States and several Arab countries. With valid proof of origin, many products benefit from reduced or zero duties. We give you an estimate of duties and taxes before shipment, so you know the real cost of your import.
Products subject to specific controls
- Food and beverages : ONSSA control, with mandatory Arabic labelling and an approved storage facility. We recommend having the label approved before departure: on arrival, bringing goods into compliance takes time and the goods remain held.
- Industrial products : some products (electrical goods, building materials, toys, car parts…) are subject to conformity checks against Moroccan standards.
- Telecommunications equipment, pharmaceutical or cosmetic products: specific approvals or authorisations depending on the case.
Special customs procedures
Not everything is imported permanently. We also handletemporary admission (construction, filming or exhibition equipment), ATA Carnet for trade fairs and events, transit under customs control and re-export. The right procedure can save you from paying duties on goods that do not stay in Morocco.
Our tips to avoid delays
- Identical weights everywhere : the declared weight must match the invoice, the packing list and the bill of lading. A single difference is enough to block a file.
- A clear origin : if part of the goods is not of preferential origin, the invoice must say so.
- Documents sent before arrival : we prepare the file during transit, not once the goods are already in port.
- Keep the free time in mind : beyond it, terminal storage and demurrage add up every day. A file prepared in advance is the best protection.

Frequently asked questions
How long does customs clearance take in Casablanca?
When the file is complete and the goods are not subject to a technical control, clearance usually takes 1 to 3 business days after arrival. A physical examination or a technical control (ONSSA, conformity) can add several days, which is why the file should be prepared during transit.
What is the import commitment?
It is the document, registered on PortNet and domiciled with your bank, that allows you to import and pay your foreign supplier. It is required for most imports and must be ready before customs clearance.
How much will I pay in duties and taxes?
It depends on the product, its value and its origin. Import VAT applies to most goods; import duty can be reduced or zero for products of European, Turkish or other partner-country origin. Send us the invoice or a product description and we will give you an estimate.
Can you clear goods shipped by another provider?
Yes. We can handle customs clearance and delivery only, whichever carrier brought the goods to Casablanca, Agadir, Laayoune or Tanger Med.
What happens if my container is selected for examination?
The goods are examined by customs in the presence of the customs declarant. We organise the examination, answer the authorities' questions and do what is needed to have the container released as quickly as possible.
Is Arabic labelling required for food products?
Yes. Imported food and beverages must carry the mandatory information in Arabic, printed directly or on a sticker label. Have the label approved before shipment to avoid your goods being held in port.
